Learning Disabilities

At Awarding Care, we support individuals with a wide range of learning disabilities. We recognise that people have different needs which may mean that their environment is required to be adapted to suit their needs, or we have specialist ways of working to provide support to our residents so they can have a good and meaningful life.

What is a Learning Disability?

Learning disabilities can vary from person to person; the disability can be:

  • Moderate
  • Severe
  • Mild
  • Profound
  • Multiple

In most cases there will be physical or emotional conditions and in other cases there will be some reduced intellectual ability.

How can Awarding Care Services help?

Awarding Care’s service is flexible and customer led. Our staff will be highly trained on how to look after and provide care for a resident with Learning Disabilities.

When it comes down to the right choice of support for a person with learning disabilities, there is a lot of things to bare in mind, but remember you have the right to make the decisions on your own terms. It is a decision that you and the people who support you – such as your family and friends can make, that you all feel comfortable with.

Awarding Care offers a range of services for people with learning disabilities. We would be happy to discuss about the specific support services in further detail when you get in contact with us.

The types of services we offer include:

We are on hand to offer you the support you need, as we understand that living with someone that has a learning disability can make a number of tasks and situations more difficult and challenging for families and individuals.

Understanding Learning Disabilities and Individual Needs

At Awarding Care all our residents have their own Personal Care Plan, which is put into place to then help us support your personal choices, and will then also focus on what is required to make this possible.

Learning disabilities affects around 1.5 million people in the U.K which is why Awarding Care are proud to offer our support services that will help/support people on an individual basis. Most people only have minor needs, whereas other individuals with severe learning disabilities may feel extra care services are required. Living with an individual who has learning disabilities can be difficult, which is why  our services will always be available should you need it.
